Bernard Card

Board Member - Independent Member

I retired from the position of General Manager Landcorp Farming Ltd in 2007, after 20 years, starting from the establishment of Landcorp.  Prior to this, I was Fields Director with the Department of Lands and Survey and managed the transfer of the Department's farming assets to the new Corporation.

I was heavily involved wiht the establisment of Landcorp, working closely with the Establishment Board, the DG of Lands and Survey, Treasury and the State Services Commission.  Over the years Landcorp has developed into a company recognised for its competence, integrity and excellent land management.  A company of which I was very proud to be a part of, which started with assets of $200 milliion and now has assets of $1.4 billion as well as having paid substantial dividends to the shareholder.

With Landcorp, I was involved in staff development, land development, improving livestock, genetics and pasture management.  I was the Chairman and Director of Landcorp's meat marketing subsidiaries, Innervision (a CAT scanning business involving sheep and deer genetic improvement).  Landcorp internationalised Boer Goats introducing them to NZ North America and widely in China.  I spearheaded and managed these interesting and successful marketing ventures. In these 20 years I was involved in buying and selling properties to strengthen the Landcorp portfolio.
